About MyKitchenRadar

Updated · By SyntyAxis

MyKitchenRadar is a family kitchen app made by SyntyAxis, a software studio. It tells a family how many days each food at home will last, like "rice: about 6–11 days", and reminds everyone before it runs out. Its first guesses start from public data, and then it learns from each family's own answers.

Who makes it

MyKitchenRadar is made by SyntyAxis, a software studio that builds mobile apps. The app is coming first to iPhone, iPad and Mac, as one app, and to Android after that.

Why it exists

Most kitchens run on a guess about how much is left. The guess fails at familiar moments: milk gone at breakfast, an empty rice bag the night before guests, two people buying the same atta in one week.

A shopping list does not fix this, because it only holds what someone typed. Pantry apps that track stock ask you to record every use, and their store reviews often say that keeping it up to date is a chore. We wanted an app that does the counting for the family and asks for one tap now and then: Full, Half, Low or Out.

MyKitchenRadar shows each item as days left. The same kitchen sits on every phone in the family, so the person who shops and the person who cooks see the same countdown.

Where the numbers come from

The app's first guess for each item starts from typical daily use for the family's food culture, times the family's size and ages. Those starting numbers come from public sources, and we keep the source of each one. For Indian kitchens and for storage times, these are the sources:

Source What it gives Kind of number
MoSPI Household Consumption Expenditure Survey 2023-24 Rice and wheat eaten per person per month, by state, rural and urban Observed (what households reported)
ICMR-NIN Dietary Guidelines for Indians 2024 Grams per day of cereals, pulses, milk and oil, by age Recommended (not observed)
ICMR-NIN Nutrient Requirements for Indians 2020 Energy needs by age, used to scale a child or grandparent against an adult Recommended
USDA FSIS FoodKeeper How long foods keep in the pantry and fridge Storage guidance

Public data describes an average home, and no family is average. That is why the app shows a range and never a single date. Each time your family answers "How much is left?", the app moves away from the average and toward how your family really eats. That learning runs on your phone, offline.

How we write this site

Every number in our guides names its source and year. Recommended amounts are labeled recommended, and survey amounts are labeled observed. Where data is missing, we say so instead of guessing.
